On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for a comprehensive breakdown of the Bills’ first six games, complete with cumulative positional grades, standout performances, biggest disappointments and plenty of concerns heading into a huge matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

Josh Allen is playing at an MVP level, James Cook has been outstanding despite costly fumbles, and Keon Coleman is emerging as one of Buffalo’s most pleasant surprises. But while the offense continues putting up points, the defense remains a major question mark.

Patrick and Matt discuss the emergence of Deone Walker, Greg Rousseau’s strong play, the struggles at linebacker and safety, and whether Brandon Beane absolutely needs to make a trade before the deadline.

They also debate the impact of Jim Leonhard’s defensive scheme, Joe Brady’s coaching decisions, and whether the Bills’ impressive record is masking potentially serious problems.

Among the biggest topics discussed:

  • Josh Allen’s MVP-caliber season: Why he’s earning an A grade and still has another gear.
  • Keon Coleman’s emergence: Is he Buffalo’s biggest pleasant surprise?
  • Deone Walker’s breakout: Why the defensive tackle is becoming a major force.
  • Defensive concerns: Disappointing linebacker play, cornerback changes and the struggling safety room.
  • Trade deadline urgency: Why Buffalo may regret not upgrading at safety.
  • Bills vs. Ravens: What Buffalo must prove defensively coming out of the bye week.

Matt also shares his conversation with Dion Dawkins about his offseason weight loss, while the guys discuss Bills superstitions, Doug Flutie’s legacy, and the growing rivalry between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson fan bases.
