On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by popular football analyst Chris Trapasso to discuss several of their biggest takeaways from the Buffalo Bills after their Week eight shellacking of the Carolina Panthers, 40-9 to win their fifth game in seven tries and put an end to their two-game losing streak.
The Bills offense was spectacular in Carolina, just not in the way most expected. The Panthers entered being pretty stingy against the run but Buffalo running back James Cook literally had a historic day rushing for the Bills, going for 216 yards in just three quarters of work–the most rushing yards by a Bill in nearly 50 years and the first time one has went over 200 yards since Fred Jackson in 2009. Chris discusses the evolution of Cook as a complete running back and the league and becoming a legitimate star.
Meanwhile the Bills passing offense was pretty lousy, particularly in the first half and Chris has thoughts on what’s going on with the lack of effectiveness in that area and why Josh Allen seems to be struggling. What’s the biggest components?
On the other side of the ball it was a nice influx of new blood that helped spark the defense to a successful day. Chris talks about Max Hairston and Jordan Hancock bringing speed and juice to the secondary while Michael Hoecht made a huge impact in his Bills debut following his six game suspension.
Unfortunately this win came with a big price as star Ed Oliver tore his bicep and could potentially be done for the season. What do the Bills do to try and at least somewhat replace his production? That plus if the Bills have a linebacker controversy brewing, does Chris think Brandon Beane will make a trade(s) before the deadline next Tuesday and plenty more.
