On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Sabres 2025-26 season preview that features longtime Buffalo News Sabres reporter and columnist Mike Harrington.

It certainly sounds like a broken record saying this as the Sabres have been in a playoff drought for the past 14 years, but this wholeheartedly feels like a make-or-break season for the foundation of this current era of Sabres hockey. Both general manager Kevyn Adams and head coach Lindy Ruff are in the final year of their deals and it’s prudent that this team finally finds a postseason that’s alluded them since a lot of younger fans have even started following Sabres hockey. Harrington sheds plenty to what’s at stake both on and off the ice this time around and has opinions on the shape of a roster that many think had an uneventful summer of roster personnel moves.

Harrington also discusses why an Alex Tuch extension hasn’t been reached as of this recording and what that could mean going into this regular season. Also, how much can we rely on Josh Norris staying healthy? The Sabres certainly are. Also, is Zach Benson ready for an increased role? Can Alex Lyon hold things down in net until UPL is back and possibly beyond? How much grace is Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin ready to give management if things once again go south this season?

Plus, Mike talks about the addition of Rachel Lenzi to the Sabres coverage team alongside him at The Buffalo News, a little Bills talk and plenty more. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time. Also big thanks to Imperial Pizza and their two locations (1035 Abbott Road and 1655 Main Street), home of not only great pizza and tons of other delicious eats but also the best everyday lunch special in town.
